This Week
In english we have been reading the story 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch'. We have been talking and writing sentences about what we would like in our basket, giving children the sentence stem of ... In my basket I would like ...
At home you could:
- Make a list of items you'd like to have in your basket if you were to go on a picnic
- Make a lighthouse keepers picnic and enjoy as a family
In Maths we have been adding using a numberline, adding two groups together to find a total:
- Add two groups of fruit from the fruit bowl.
- Take a handful of cars in one hand and another group in the other. Count each group and record the number sentence to find how many vehicles there are altogether.

Google Classroom Activities
We have prompted some useful links to support this weeks learning on the virtual classroom. Please take the time to have a look at them.
Additionally if you access 'phonicplay' the children can play games, supporting their reading/phonics work, reading real and nonsense words. There are three games which you don't need a subscription for (Buried Treasure, Picnic on Pluto and Dragon's Den)
Have Fun !
Lost Property
We have Mislaid a Brook school fleece. It is named. Please could you check at home to see if your child has picked it up and taken it with them.

Wednesday 7th July | ![]() |
Your child can come to school in shorts and t-shirts or clothes appropriate for the weather (we are hoping for the sun to shine!) The children will take part in various activities to create a holiday experience.
We will start the day with the children going through passport control and being security checked (imagination).
Children will board an aeroplane and go on the virtual journey. The flight will include, safety video, refreshments and an in-house mini movie. After arriving at their destination and safely storing their luggage, we will have sand and water play with lots of summer holiday music and dance.
At lunch time we will enjoy fish and chips outside. (This will be an extra choice on the lunch menu) or your choice of a picnic (bring their own packed lunch)
After lunch, we will take part in fairground games and activities )hoopla, hook a duck, volley ball, races and frisbee), watch a Punch and Judy show and finish the day with a delicious ice cream!
This will be an enrichment experience for the children to remember in Reception!
If you have any questions, queries or concerns please phone the school and we will return your call.
Thank you for your continuing support.
Reception Team.
